From the book, Chapter 18. A 12-inch pizza is 113.1 square inches and a 16-inch 201.1: 1.78 times as much (16/9), 78% more pizza for 43% more money, at 9.9¢ a square inch against 12.4¢. An 8 × 8 pan is 64 square inches and a 9 × 13 is 117: × 1.83, so 1 1/2 cups becomes 2.74. Enlarging 125% twice makes it 156.25% as long and 2.44 times the area.
