From the book, Chapter 19. Painting at 4 / 6 / 12 hours: (4 + 4 × 6 + 12) ÷ 6 = 6.67 hours, against a plain average of 7.33. Five past jobs ran 1.2, 1.5, 1.1, 1.4 and 1.3 times their plans, 1.3 on average, so a 20-day plan becomes about 26 days.

Rounding is half up, the way the book rounds. Numbers can be typed as 1,450, $38, 12%, 1/20, 2.5 million or 3 × 10⁷. Everything stays in your browser: no sign-up, nothing stored or sent.
