Split both numbers by place value, multiply every part by every part, and add. The rectangle shows that nothing is missed, and it lines up exactly with the method you learned.

Opens on Chapter 7’s example: 34 × 27 = 600 + 80 + 210 + 28.

Enter the numbers from the worksheet, then press Show me.
From the book, Chapter 7. 34 × 27 = 600 + 80 + 210 + 28 = 918. In the standard algorithm, 34 × 7 = 238 is the first line and 34 × 20 = 680 the second: the zero you were told to “put down” is there because the 2 means two tens. Estimate first: 30 × 30 = 900, so 918 is sensible and 9,180 isn’t.

Every step is worked exactly, the way the chapter does it. Everything stays in your browser: no sign-up, nothing stored or sent.
